Cannot update 536 wifi dongle firmware

Windows xp sp 3

Followed upmans wifi dongle firmware update to the letter....but when I get to the step of plugging the dongle in my USB port nothing happens. No progress bar no dialog box nothing to indicate anything is happening. I went ahead and set up my wifi on the 536 with no problem but wondering why nothing happens when the dongle is connected to my PC? I know it's probably some PC problem/conflict just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

All else is well with my 536, it looks to be a great unit.

Mine did not show anything either when I plug it in. But if you go on in the instructions and run the second program, choose the COM port and then install, it will work. I had to try three different COM ports until I found the right one but not a big deal.

Did you try different USB bridges on your computer? Sometimes different ports are tied to a separate USB bridge in the chipset. Sometimes USB on one bridge works better than another.

Take a look at Device Manager for yellow tags on USB ports/devices
