I have update my firmware to 2.9. Windows says no driver present. Where can I find this? This is getting frustrated. I haven't bought a new scanner in 20 years and this digital **** is pissing me off.
Thanks,
Marc

I have had the latest Windows 10 updates break more than one function to do with my radios. On one computer, it took out the sound card (doesn't even appear in the device manager anymore), touchscreen, and SD card slot. The computer manufacturer response was "working on updates", but they have not had drivers available for serveral months. MS, of course, doesn't give a rip.
Like I said earlier it depends on the chipset in the cable . some research shows me the WHISTLER cable uses this FTDI Chip Home Page new drivers are at that website. What do I need to do to make it work so I can download frequencies?
Did you purchase the actual Whistler brand cable, or did you get it from a third party vendor? What do I need to do to make it work so I can download frequencies?
Get used to it, when MS releases software that isn't fully vetted (like defense contractors, you know, R&D in the field), they doubletalk or use plausible deniability, then point to hardware/third party software suppliers. Then you have the SW suppliers doing the same thing pointing fingers to hardware or MS folks, etc. Not like the days gone by where ppl had professional integrity and released either HW or SW that actually works with each other... Sign of the times...
I've been teaching, building, and repairing computers for over 45 years. Some of the problems are caused by MS, and some by users. I have two Acer Aspire One netbooks running Windows 10 latest version, and they work well with tasks like a DMR hotspot where processor speed and memory are not a big requirement. It would be impossible for MS to test every possible setup because of experimenting and older computers. The manufacturers are also guilty of not developing new drivers, because selling a new computer is more profitable than developing software, drivers, and firmware that brings in no money.
