Learning Experience.
I noticed the rest channel is always moving voice with it on the same frequency. I thought it interesting to try to track CAP+ with just a single dongle and one instance of FMP24-CC.bat and CC.bat. Told CC to synthesize all time slots. It worked. There are times I didn't hear anything because the rest channel will fall onto the next channel when voice was still on the previous frequency. The point is CAP+ can be monitored with a single dongle with about a small percentage of traffic missed. Optimal is dual dongles.

Cap+ should be trunkable via a single dongle with no problem. It would be doing exactly what a scanner (Uniden at least) does to track Cap+. Whether you are on an active voice channel or the rest channel, information about where voice activity is occurring is sent over active voice channels and rest channels -- so nothing should be missed.

It's systems with dedicated control channels that actually need to have two dongles (one to watch the CC for channel grants, one to monitor whatever VC becomes active).

On this system here Rest will be on like frequency A channel 2 Voice on channel 1 then all the sudden another 2 radios key up and fill Channel 1 and 2 with traffic resulting in the Rest channel moving to Frequency B Channel 3 causing DSD+ as CC to follow to Frequency B and miss all of what is said on Frequency A. That's with single dongle. That's my clear observation of what I see before me. That just feels normal if using s single dongle configuration. Sometimes should and is doesn't always go together in this hobby. I am trying to be as flexible as possible.

Good point. And my comment about "nothing should be missed" isn't quite right anyway, since the only way to not miss anything at all is to have the ability to simultaneously decode every VC conversation active. Honestly, I rarely if ever trunk with the single dongle. if I'm using a single dongle, it's typically for just searching for system characteristics / monitoring a CC or listening to a conventional repeater. I can see where the possibility exists to miss traffic using a single dongle just by virtue of using the rest channel (-rc) option would make it jump to the new rest channel in the middle of a voice decode. I haven't done that enough to experience all of the nuances.

If I could get my hands on a dual VCO SDR and DSD Fastlane is able to support it I could save on USB current draw. on the system. Good adventure. The amount missed isn't that big of a deal because the traffic is only typical distribution plant traffic. Very busy to say the least. A huge facility. :p

What command line options did you use for the CAP+ single dongle scan as I've tried and can see all the conversations but the receiver won't follow away from the CC
Thanks

It partially follows. Cap+ voice seems to follow the rest channel. When Rest and a voice talk group is on the same frequency in single dongle mode you will hear just that talkgroup on that frequency. Make sure DSDPlus CC event log is set to '3' to monitor that DMR voice. CC DSDPlus will decode voice in either Con+ or Cap+

hi!

Guys, please help with correct command line options to CAP+ following with single dongle mode.

scanlist is empty

fmpa.bat
FMPA -rc -o20001 -L10 -M10 -V10 -b12.5 -f164.175

Ra1.bat
DSDPlus -F2 -r1 -e -T -E -Pwav -i20001 >>1Ra-log.txt

DSDPlus.frequencies
;Site 2
Cap+, 0, 2, 1, 164.1375, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 0, 2, 3, 164.1625, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 0, 2, 5, 164.1750, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 0, 2, 7, 164.1875, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 0, 2, 9, 164.0750, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 0, 2, 11, 164.1250, 0.0, 0

i hear only short part of communication ~1sec. then decoder hop to next group.
How to fix this issue?

This may be the wrong place to ask? But I'm doing the single dongle to receive voice and data. Can someone that uses two dongles one for voice and one for data please send me their batch file so I can try to tweak it to get both of mine running correctly?

Thanks.

In your DSD+ FL folder there are 4 batch files to load
FMP24-CC.bat and CC.bat
FMP24-VC.bat and VC.bat
You'll have a mess to organize on your desktop but they work. Really only thing to tweak is gain and ppm. Everyone is YMMV. Your signal strength and ppm could be different from someone else's batch files. Default usually works okay.

Which system is that? Will you link to the RRDB for it? Needing the color code.
Edit: Looks like St. Petersburg, Russia has no RRDB.
