• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

for those familiar with the operation of a UHF XPR7550 (family) of radios on a motorola commercial CAP system. a question........

radios key up and transmit. if the RX radios lose the signal for even 1 second, they close the speaker, but their displays still show signal RX of the other unit for as long as they are talking, such as 30 seconds. it doesn't matter far or close to the tower, if signal is lost and comes back, the radios stop producing speaker audio, until the signal finally drops and they re-key up the tower.

think of being on a DMR ham repeater and someone starts talking for 30 seconds and 5 seconds in, their signal drops out for a second, then returns but you don't hear them for the rest of the transmission, AND you can't talk while they are talking even though you can't hear them. it's really annoying.

I want to bring this up to the radio shop but want to be able to provide some suggestions to go with my issues.

I would need to see repeater and subscriber firmware and codeplugs. Has the system or subscribers been PM within the last few years? Is it a few radios or every radio? Worse at certain times or days?

This sounds like a "late entry" issue, but one that Cap Plus can deal with assuming rest channel info and timers are correct.

Just out of curiosity what's your privacy set to. I vaguely remember something about when privacy is set to none there was issues with late entry.

Is this encrypted or unencrypted?

If its encrypted, is it basic privacy or enhanced privacy or AES?

If the TG is using enhanced privacy or AES, do the repeaters have enhanced privacy encryption checked in their codeplug?

Due to how DMR implements encryption, if you use enhanced privacy or AES, the repeater needs to have enhanced privacy selected in the security tab. If it isn't, what you describe will happen.
