• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hey all, not sure if this belongs here or in Voice/Control Channel Decoding.

I've got a MotoTRBO DMR Capacity Plus system I'm monitoring, with scanners and with SDR sticks. There are six frequencies in the system, but only five appear to be in the rotation for voice traffic.

The following frequencies are LCN 1-5 (LSN 1-10 of course) in order:

860.8125
860.3125
860.0625
862.7625
863.2625

Frequency 860.5625 is the odd one out. It runs a constant stream of the activity on the system, i.e. which channels are in use by what radios, as well as location (LRRP) and registration (ARS) data. LRRP and ARS are not provided on any of the other frequencies in the system.

Excuse me if these are newbie questions -

1) Does this frequency need to be in my scanner at all? Will I benefit from anything by having it? Will it harm my ability to track the system if I leave it out?

2) When I run DSD+ FL, if I want LRRP data, I have to tune to this freq, but then I don't get any voice following, TGIDs, or radio IDs. They are associated to the Cap+ entry in my DSD data files, and DSD doesn't associate this frequency to the Cap+ system. Is there something I need to do with DSD to make this work, or am I stuck with either LRRP data or voice and TGID/RID, but not both at the same time?

There is a potential that the data channel can change. I have seen issues where various SDR monitoring software confuses the data channel for control channel as it is data (although there is not really and trunking system info). You may have to play with it - sometimes I leave data channels out (this applies to P25 as well) but sometimes I throw them in. Odds are good you can leave it out, but it may take some time monitoring your system to figure that out.
