• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

In the last couple of weeks, I've noticed several requests for frequencies for upcoming airshows. The wiki is a great place to develop such lists, since it can be built by any member. Once built, the list can be used - and updated- each year so that each year there is always a place to start.

If you have questions about building such a list please ask. I have a template or two already built, but whatever format you want to use is fine. Probably a straight list is the simplest kind, and it's easy to maintain. If you want to build a table so that you can use copy/paste functions (such as EZ Grab in FreeScan), that's fine too.

Don't forget to document your local trunked systems' activity, if there is any, that's relevant to the show. Itinerant and other freqs are also a possibility. Don't limit yourself to just the aero stuff - there might be other users, too. Document everything you can....best regards..Mike
