This is for CareFlite helicopter service in North Central TX first of all.
Does anyone have a breakdown of CareFlite helicopter callsigns used by each helicopter?
These are the helicopters and bases and some of the numbers I think they use:
N428CF Methodist Harris Fort Worth Hospital CareFlite 1
N429CF Methodist Dallas Medical Center CareFlite 2
N412CF Granbury Regional Airport CareFlite 3?
N413CF Terrell Municipal Airport CareFlite 4 (this used to be based at McKinney but was moved August 2024)
N419CF Whitney Base CareFlite 5
N417CF North Texas Medical Center CareFlite 6? (Gainesville)
N418CF Burnet Municipal Airport CareFlite 7
N416CF spare?

If anyone has PHI helicopter callsigns, would appreciate those too.

Myles,

N418CF, CareFlite7, is based in Burnet County. Occasionally, when that unit takes a patient to Temple or Waco, or is in the DFW area going to their base at the Grand Prairie airport for maintenance, you might hear dispatch here talking to them on the MegaHertz trunked system. N416Cf may well be a spare, if still in service. There is no ‘recent flight’ history for that tail number on Flightradar24.

I don’t have a list for PHI. I do hear Med 2, based, I believe, at McKinney, and occasionally one or more of the others. Besides their own birds. PHI operates the Dallas Children’s Health copter, and also most of the “Flight for Life” units in the Tyler and Easr Texas area.

I see from the FlightAware history that on 12/16, N412CF was at Grand Prairie, went to Scott & White in Temple, then made a trip to West Texas (Brady). Ran around Central Texas for a bit and eventually made it back to GPM on 12/18.

For North Texas, this is what I have for PHI:
Med 2 McKinney N498P, N337PH, N330PH
Med 6 Corsicana N419P
Med 10 Denton N467P
Children's Medical Center N797P
Fort Worth Spinks N432PH

PHI moves helicopters around a lot so you can't keep up with specific ones being at a particular base for long.
I was more trying to figure out what callsign was used for each base.

I see this wiki lists some bases:
I think Med 8 Arlington is defunct now. Perhaps replaced with Spinks.

Interesting to note that CareFlite isn't mentioned in the Wiki except for a link to their website.

The Whitney bird is CareFlite 6, and Gainesville is CareFlite 5.

N412CF is indeed CareFlite 6. CF6 ranges around quite a bit. sometimes repeated trips to drop patients at Temple instead of one of the DFW hospitals. CF6 and CF3 occasionally will pick up a patient in Abilene for transport back to Fort Worth or Dallas. Besides covering the north part of the metro, as well as the Texoma & southern Oklahoma areas, CF5 may also make a pickup at Wichita Falls.

At one time, PHI had several units at the Desoto heliport facility. That has hangers, as well as repair services. I was having lunch at Ojeda's, across Hampton from the base, and saw one PHI bird lifting. After leaving the restaurant, I had the friend I was riding with stop on Danieldale to try & grab a picture.

You can't see it from that angle, but the door was open to another hanger, and there was a yellow, probably PHI copter visible. As far as I know, they quit using that facility several years ago. Occasionally, but rarely, I'll hear a helicopter advise that they are stopping by Desoto to refuel, From what I gather, there may be a 'self-serve' fueling station available, as these generally have been well after hours.

Looking at FlightRadar, I occasionally see one of the PHI copters circling repeatedly around the Cleburne airport, possibly shooting landings & takeoffs.

CareFlite is very busy on the Megahertz TRS. Being in Dallas, I hear the North Texas copters talking to dispatch no matter where they are.

PHI does regularly train at the Cleburne airport.
