Does anyone know what the William XXX (ie. W600) codes are on the Carrollton TX PD trunked system? I have heard several references to William 300, William 600, William 200, etc.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Carrollton TX PD W-XXX Codes

Steve,

I have not yet had any feedback on the meaning of the William 300, William 600, etc. codes used by Carrollton PD.

I have confirmed it is Carrollton and not Farmers Branch or Addison....fairly common usage.

A friend of mine who was on the Carrollton PD force several years ago indicated they did not use these codes at that time.

Will keep you apprised.

Listening to how they're used, apparently they are profiling codes of some type. The letter is for race (White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) and the numbers are for offence code. Wish I could provide more info, but that’s all I can figure out myself.

Just a stab, but could they be unit codes? Here in FW, things are divided up North, South, West, East and Central, and within each of those they are divided further. I usually listen to West and they refer to various units as Mary XXX, Ocean XXX or Nora XXX, in the North I've heard them call Charlie XXX.

I'm pretty sure these are call disposition codes but I have no idea what the various codes mean yet, If I do find out I will be sure to pass it along.

And yes, this is limited to Carrollton PD only. Addison and the Branch are mostly plain-language for the most part.

Someone has to know this. Isn't there anyone on the Carrollton PD or friend of a Carrollton PD officer that knows these?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the codes used are the following:

Adam - Asian
Boy - Black
Henry - Hispanic
William - White

That part I know for sure....the 2nd part is guess work. I dont think it is the type of offence because there are only 9 numbers (100, 200, 300 etc...) What I think the number represents is the number of offenses listed on the citation.

Adam 300 - 3 offenses on a citation issued to an Asian person.

William 100 - 1 offense on a citation issued to a white person.

Henry 900 - 9 offenses on a citation issued to a hispanic person.

Ive never heard any higher than 900...so if my theory is correct 10 offenses would need 2 citations to cover the incident and it would be Adam 900 & Adam 100.

I think its a good theory, but most of the codes I hear are 500 or 600 and I never hear 100. There is no way Carrollton PD is righting 5 or 6 cites on most of their traffic stops.

Anyone have a friend on Carrollton PD they could ask?

I might just stop and ask an officer one day, but most I have run into don't like getting reminded that the general public is out there listening.

Disposition codes

I believe that the numbers indicate the class of the violation. They used to say "hazard" (e.g. running a red light) and "Non-hazard" (e.g. stoplight out). I suspect that these codes expand on those to help them better track the violations. I suspect that the higher the number, the more severe the violation, and they only report the highest value, if there are multiple violations.

I just thought I would renew this thread incase anyone has figured/found out what all the Carrollton PD XXX disposition codes mean. I listen to the Carrollton Farmers Branch Addison system all the time and it kills me I don't know what these are.

I asked one of the officers a few weeks ago and the only thing he would tell me is that it is used to track racial profiling. He would not go into what the numbers mean, but that's probably just him not wanting to discuss it as opposed to an official policy of keeping them secret.
