idk if its just me, but isnt it unusual to hear cb skip or any kind of skip at 2:00am CST??? i thought it was best heard during daylight hours. or is it the 10,000,000 watt amp those guys are pushin not make any difference? idk i had to chime in becuz i thought it was a little odd for the time of day considering i havent heard much DX activity as of late... thats why i bought a galaxy dx 959 and and had it supertuned because i thought my standard cb wasnt cuttin it... haha thanks, kent.

Its not you. Hams across the US have been reporting sporadic activity on 6 meters all night long. E-Skip is common this time of year even at night.

Read the title again guys. He's not talking about six meters. He's talking about the garbage on C.B. Channel 6.

"E-Skip is common this time of year even at night."
Maybe in SoCal and especially around LA LA Land where anything can happen in the Land of Fruits and Nuts. Not so here in New Jerky where the atmosphere freezes and today fell as little white flakes.

"or is it the 10,000,000 watt amp those guys are pushing not make any difference?"
With all that power echoing around The Bowl they don't need skip to be heard, sort of. Frankly all that fuzzbox distortion makes them unintelligible and gives us ear bleed. Oh and BTW you can't push that big an amp, they're awfully heavy.

Eh, do you think my power supply is big enough?

There was a guy running around my neighborhood yesturday with a Chevy Surburban with some funky looking dual antennas. I suspect he was transmitting, my TV screen shrank down to nothing, and his voice was bleeding into the stereo. I fired up my shortwave radio to find what frequency he was transmitting on, 26.965mhz, of course. It's a miracle my TV, Stereo and Shortwave radio survived the tramatic incident.

Haha, nice power supply Warren! That should run all my radios, maybe with a little struggle, haha. (Just kidding, I only have 5, 1 HF, 2m and scanner, all rest HT's)

Out of curiosity, do all the linear amps that pump out 2KW also work if you plug up a CB in to them?

haha yeah thats funny, but i thought all this "digital" stuff wasnt supposed to be as prime for interference for tv's, stereos

yeah i did hear skip or "duck-plucking" after midnight on citizens band channel 6... not 6 meter, but here in crappy (but snow-free) nebraska, i think that might be cool to monitor... and yeah i would agree that it is garbage but after many years (like only 13) i can pick up on some of the "lingo" thats said on the cb... hahaha and besides, its nice to know that theyre are places that might only seem far, far away but FLOOD into my radio lol

well no not really, but when i came home from work, turned on the CB, and was listenin to "AUUUUDIO, and "byyyye bye byyeeee bye bye"..............i couldnt help but think it was a little odd... unless all these guys didnt have to work the next day... otherwise i have only heard 1 maybe 2 skip transmissions during the day as of late and thats it

Actually it belonged to this guy, download, decompress and run the audio file. (;->)

"Out of curiosity, do all the linear amps that pump out 2KW also work if you plug up a CB in to them?"

Only if you work the 10M factory mod available to hams upon presentation of the callsign subject to verification and you have a CB that meets the drive requirement, 100W PEP.

Back in the day there actually were a few smart CBers who did it the "right" way by using second hand Johnson "desk kilowatt" final driven by a Ranger. Leenyars suck raw eggs while a plate modulated AM transmitter sounds sweeeet!

Now does that answer your question, punkie? BA BA BA BA BAAAAA! (OOPS, too many clues here!)
