• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

What part of NJ? There is a lot of activity in Eastern NJ near NYC on CH 31 AM, and on CHs 37 to 40 SSB

Please forgive me if this sounds out of line, but I'm curious why you are not able to find this out on the air?

There's only 40 CB channels, not too difficult to scan through them quickly. If you hear someone talking, say "breaker breaker" (or whatever it is CBers say) and say "Hey there good buddy, what's your handle?"

Do that for a few days and you'll probably have a better list of active channels and handles than anyone on this forum.

Well, I'm not in New Joizy, but if you're ever out west be sure to give "Wildcat" a holler.

"'Hey there, good buddy'......heh heh heh; I would not say that as I can see you don't know what it means in CB land."

Yyyyyeahh..."good neighbour" is the, well, "proper" expression to use these days. "Good buddy" is, erm, shall we say...uh, I guess, rather passé and somewhat insulting these days. Big social faux pas, unless you live in Portl...well, I'm not going to get into that. Not on here, anyways.

Yup, unfortunately "good buddy" in CB land no longer means what it used to mean. If you look up the meaning on the internet you will find out.

Why don't you just say what it means?

In the world of cb slang Good Buddy refers to a Homosexual.

Have a super day.

Please forgive me if this sounds out of line, but why are you trolling the CB forum if you have no clue or intentions of ever using a CB in present day?

Hmmm...some syrup of Ipecac just might help you hock up that CB set. Radio equipment is not exactly part of a healthy diet, last I checked.

(Couldn't resist. Just had to take the liberty.)

That form of social communication is now done on the internet. Places like Facebook and Twitter are the main CB's now a days.

I've been looking for "Lot Lizard" everytime I run down the NJT. If you can help me find her when your CB is hooked up, I'd like to know where she is hanging out these days.

North Jersey

I know this is an old post but after about 20 years I have connected a unit in my jeep. It's been very quiet around here but I generally monitor 19 so any body near north jersey or the GWB you can call for the golden eagle.
