The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I bought this at a yard sale for 5 bucks. I've never seen a power cord like this before. What do I need to buy for it? The wires are black, red, and orange. There's a good 2A fuse in there. I want to get some more of those. I'm not sure what else I need for it.

thanks in advance

Hi Nec445, and welcome to RadioReference.
The closest thing I could find to help is this:
Cb radio assist - FixYa

I just looked this over... from the several automotive accessories (cb, radio, anything really) red is +, black is ground, and orange is switched 12v ie the ignition switch...

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using my fingers

Well, to answer the question, you could go to an auto parts store or Radio Shack for the fuses. Looks like you have a microphone and power wires, you need coax cable and an antenna to complete it- you may as well get an swr meter as well to match the antenna with your radio...cbtricks.com has info and schematics (note: orange wire has 1 amp fuse according to schematic)....good luck!

Ignition sense

I'm not familair with that exact radio, but on every other CB I've had that had an orange power wire (mostly from the 90's) the orange line is the ignition sense. If you hook the positive and negative (red and black, respectively) to a power source and the radio does not come on, then the orange wire needs to be on a positive source also. I usually just hook it to the same terminal as the red wire.
