Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm about to wire up a CDM1250. Is it possible to have the radio power on and off with the ignition?

I know with the PIN connector it will power the radio off when the ignition turns off but I can't get it to power back on without pressing the power on button each time.

If this can be done can someone point me in the right direction? In reading the CPS help under ignition sense, it doesn't look like its possible.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, with it programmed to follow ignition, it will turn on and off without having to push the button. It's under radio wide configuration. If you've already programmed it for this, then perhaps there's something wrong with the radio?

In the CPS: Radio Configuration ---> Accessory Configuration tab ---> bottom of the tab - Ignition Sense Type. There are four choices in the drop-down: Disabled, Follow Ignition Only, On/Off & Ignition, and PTT Disabled. You need to select On/Off & Ignition which will make the radio function exactly as you want.

Run a line from Pin 10 on the accessory connector to an ignition/accessory controlled source in the vehicle. Fuse it at 4 amps at the source end and you're good to go.

The radio will come on when the car is started or the key set in accessory position and then go off when the key is turned off. You will be able to turn the radio on without the key by pressing on the volume control. You will also be able to turn the radio off even with the vehicle running by pressing the same button.
