Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

In reading the specs of the CDM 1250 I've noticed an adjustable power output of up to 60 watts or something like that. Do ALLof these units have the capability for that power output or are some models limited to a lower output?
Also, is the output level selected thru the CPS?
Thx in advance.

60W of rated power is the low band models. the VHF is 45W and UHF is 40W. you can turn power up/down via the tuner software, and set hi/lo power modes via CPS. it is NOT advisable to turn a 40/45W unit up to 60W even if it will do it, you will burn out the final a lot quicker. it coudl happen after a few minutes of TX or it could be a few years down the road, but it will happen sooner than if you ran it at rated power.

I was able to change the high/low power settings on my CDM1250 through the CPS. I can change the power to any number I choose as long as it is below the radios high limit. For example I was able to change the high power to 17 watts and the low to 3 watts.
