The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, My dept just bought a bunch of used CDM1250s and I’ve been learning how to program them, but am stuck on how many channels the radios will scan at one time? Best I’m able to do is 16 even if I have about 26 channels programmed into the unit, and multiple scan lists ,I’m unable to figure out if it has group scan. We have always used vertex standards so all the Motorola software is new to me.

Are you talking about HT1250's? If so, 16 is the max. MDC1200 is a signalling format. These radios are not public safety grade and are well beyond end of life with Motorola, so I wouldn't recommend using them in a mission critical environment.

CDM1250 we're used by many public safety agencies around my area before trunking system became the norm. 15+1 is the maximum channels you can assign to a scan list. You can create multiple scan lists but the radio will only scan one at a time. So choose your channels carefully.

Ok that’s the conclusion I was think it would be after messing with the software for hours, just needed someone that knew to confirm. Thank you.

To continue a bit of this, I have a VHF HT1250 and want to know if channels that are already programmed can be rearranged into different zones (they are just listed one after the other right now) so I can then label the zones by towns and assign scans to some of the channels in each zone? If not, would I have to start over, create the zones FIRST and then add channels into each zone and then assign scan y/n? Thanks.

Here and there
With the waris series you're better off making the conventional channels first, TX ex tone etc, then once those are are filled and made assign your zones then scan lists.

I use to find in those to do it in that order and attempt to make a order of the conventional personalities to match the zone, scan list order so it's easier but I understand overtime freqs change and eventually you'll have a mix and no order of the conventional side.

But in a order of conventional personalities, then zone order, then scan lists is how I use to do those.

We still have a very few around mainly for tac channels and some primary mains for on scene stuff (ht1250s, 1550s) as a side monitor for IC use or spares.

I wouldn't be surprised if many out there were our areas former as we sold off A LOT recent months and they were pretty good well tuned VHF cdms, ht1250s, 1550s.

Those who do cross into them won't be dissapointed after they got resold third party from the government auction.

I know ours the guy who won the lot in auction made out like bandit though he's over priced the mts and mt2000s for third party resale.
