• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Where/What is the setting to adjust the squelch in the CPS software for the CDM1250? We got a new radio with the same freqs we have been using for years and now it's picking up (barely braking squelch) transimitions from ??? where. I'm somewhat familiar with the CPS software as I have adjusted the scan lists / personality... however, I'm not sure about the squelch.

Thanks

The squelch adjustment is not in the cps application, but rather in the tuner application.

I would not suggest makiing any adjustments unless you know what you are doing.

Such adjustments are usually made with a service monitor. If you have one and know
what you are doing then the tuner app is what you seek.

Was this a new radio out of the box? I've done well over a dozen so far, and never touched any squelch settings while programming the radio. Wonder if you have an issue unrelated to squelch settings?
Are you saying that you are recieving faint unwanted transmissions? Maybe they were there all along, and your old radios didn't have as good recieve as your new radio. Instead of putzing with the squelch, maybe you should look at using PL's.

Yes, this is a new radio... and yes ther are PL tones on the the channels (two different) in question. Like I said, they are barely breaking squelch and it seems like having the squelch turned up just a bit would get rid of it.

Sounds to me like there are people with the same PL as you sharing the same frequency. Like I said before, with the old radios you couldn't hear them. I don't go back to work until Monday, I'll play with a CDM and see what I can find. Maybe I'll learn something new.
