Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I need to calibrate the receive and transmit frequency of a couple of CDM1550 radios. I've used CPS many times, but am new to the Global Tuner software. I'm an amateur....not a pro.

Which part of the Global Tuner software do I use to calibrate the frequency?

First off, do you have a service monitor? If you do not, then you DO NOT want to attempt do to ANY service adjustments to ANY RADIO.

You would be better off and money ahead to take it to a shop.

NOW, if you do have monitor and you know how to use it, then the first thing you need to do is open the service software and under file read the radio.

Then, under tx align is when you find the adjustments.

AGAIN I stress if you do not have a monitor and or the back ground DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.

Thanks for the warning...I do have the equipment, just haven't done one of these radios before. They are a hell of a step up from the tweaking and turning for the Kenwood TKR-820s.

CDM1550 alignments.

One other thing with many of the CDM1550 and 1250's make sure you have the radio on for a few hours to stabilize before the alignment. Probably stating the obvious since you already have test equipment.

I have seen people bring cold radios that have only been powered on a few minutes, align their radio, and find it out of alignment after it has been powered on for a few hours.

My last job had many technicians that thought a Motorola radio only needed a minute to be stable. I was able to show them several 1250 and my personal 1550's that would drift a bit after warming up.

Good luck and great radio you have there.
