good the more the merrier. Sounds better and i like have the digital unit id's. I just got a solid lock on Catt Cty P25 this past week and already have over 500 unit id/ names recorded. BTW you have a source or link for this??? I would like to see Cheektowaga PD go digital

I was told "digital" by the end of the year, but my source was not sure if it was NXDN or P25. P25 seems like the logical solution seeing how Amherst and Buffalo, their two neighbors are P25. I've seen a few of them sporting some NX-5300's, so they are already taking a step in that direction.

From 11/9/2022 Cheektowaga town board meeting...

APX4k’s are CPD’s new “standard issue” radio, been that way for a few years. They were the replacement to their HT1250’s. I wanna say it had something to do with being able maintain/re-establish direct interoperability with Buffalo PD. Last I saw, CPD was still rockin’ CDM1250’s in the cruisers.

??? That is City of Tonawanda, not Town, and for their DPW, not the Police. The emissions on it are for NXDN and NBFM, but the NXDN is most likely a moot point, unless they are confirmed on it. FM Communications maintains their radios, and a Kenwood dealer. It's common (at least around here, from what I've seen), that the license also has emissions on it for some digital format that the dealer sells. I've seen DMR and NXDN emissions on licenses on widely used, not changing anytime soon, been that way for years, analog channels.

Found it rather quickly,
http://tonawandatownny.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1947&Inline=True - Page 255-256.

For those who don't want to click, $25,373.75 is for labor and 53 KWD-5100CV keys (P25 conventional) for the PD.

they will probably use these for their current analog system

where did this information come from??

I am not sure if this means anything but Amhert PD (and Buffalo PD) now have entries on the SaiaNet page. I am fairly sure this is a new thing, and it doesn't make sense to me since both these agencies are listed fine on the current standard listing page for Erie County/Buffalo with their P25 line items. Does this hint at the changes being discussed? If BTFire21 is right about Amherst (and he's still uncited at this writing), could the same be in the cards for Buffalo Police? I'm stitching a lot of assumptions here but that SaiaNet page is suspicious.

Perhaps you didn't notice the (link) text in the descriptions for those talkgroups. They are just that, links from their conventional resources, presumably so that other agencies operating on SaiaNet can monitor.

What makes you think I didn't notice them? I certainly did.

Thank you for explaining their precise meaning, I took them as placeholders for some later HTML work or something, an assumption which actually reinforced my idea that it alluded to future work.

-- Ahhhhhh, I see. But why? Do they in fact have two systems somehow working together or is it just about laying the foundation for something else albeit slowly?

The purpose of those channels being "linked" to the SaiaNet system is to facilitate interoperability between users of SaiaNet onto "those" channels. We'll say UB PD wants/needs to listen to Amherst PD, Amherst Fire, or Buffalo PD, as they can work with all three. UB PD being on SaiaNet, running XPR radios, cannot directly monitor APD of BPD due to the shortcomings of XPR's not permitting P25 in those units, as well as scanning conventional channels while affiliating to a Connect Plus TRS. To monitor AFD, they would have to de-affiliate with SaiaNet, which has their dispatch TG on it, as AFD is analog and obviously capable of being in XPRs. The same can be said for NYSTA's channel. Tow operators using a SaiaNet TG can now scan, while affiliated to SaiaNet their company TG as well as the NYSTA channel, which they most likely have a towing contract for (the tow's talk on the NYSTA channel)
