Hello all.

I'm a new SDS 100 owner coming from a GRE PSR-500. I have searched and cannot find a way to set up a temp favorites list like I could on my PSR-500.

Lets say an incident is happening, I like to be able to monitor multiple TGID's and only those will be scanned. Today there was an incident where there was traffic on a OPS & Car to Car channels. How can this be done on the SDS100?

Thanks for any help!

For the specific scenario you describe, you might be best off to hold on the department and change the scanned service types to Law Tac and Law Talk. That would get all Tac and Talk for that department but would probably work okay unless there were many incidents all within range. You'd just have to remember to re-enable the other service types afterwards.

Create a new department for that system and program the TG's in that department and make a hold with the softbutton for DEPT and wait 3 sec and push that DEPT button again and use the dial button to go to that extra department you programmed. If you push Enter while a TG are active in the normal departments you get the choise to either edit or save it and when choosing save it will let you select to which department to save it.

If you want continue to scan you'll have to drill down the menu system and avoid the normal departments for that system and only keep the temp one in scan. If you program quick keys you can more easily lock out all departments if they have the same QK number like 0 and only engage that temp department with another quick key number like 1. If the scanner are in that system you do ..0 to disable all normal dept and ..1 to engage that temp one. If you are in another fav list and system you'll have to enter both favorite and system numbers for a QK.

It sounds like when there is an incident, you manually add the active TGs to the Favorites list (which would have had to be empty before the incident). Then once setup, you press FAV to scan that list. The pros include that you can mix conventional and trunked, but the biggest con is how long this might take to setup and how you'd manage adding new channels as they get added to the incident.

The scenario you describe is why many of us run multiple radios. I'm not satisfied to have 3 channels in a list I am exclusively scanning for an incident, because I am quite likely to miss something. I'll turn on 3 separate radios, one on each channel.

The first thing I explored when I got an SDS was the zip code feature. It doesn't work for me for many many reasons. That meant creating my own extensive Favorites list, and do all of my scanning from there. The SDS doesn't have an equivalent "copy this channel to my Favorites list", but that seems like a klunky way to achieve what you want anyway. Implementing the SYSTEM DEPT CHANNEL hold functions are likely the way to go, but it depends on your exact expectation. It works for me in this scenario because that will be one of several radios receiving an incident.

Couldn't he just create a new favorites list and have only on it the multiple tg's he wants to monitor and turn off all other lists?

It sounds like he's creating a Fav List on the fly on an incident per incident basis. Otherwise, yes.
