Charlotte Area Radio Shops

Hey guys & gals. I am looking for a store in the Charlotte region that carries classic and shortwave radios. I am shopping for a gift for my father, who is retired from radio. He collects radios and I am looking to get him maybe a Zenith D7000 or similar. Thanks in advance for your help!

There are not many of them available anymore.

The best place would be trying the internet or ebay.

You might even try placing what you are looking for on the following site.

Two-Way Shopper - two way radio equipment listing service.

They have a section for wanted equipment and such.

Thanks for the response! I am hoping to find something local that I can go see, as the deadline is approaching. Looks like I may have to do something online with priority shipping! Man, radio shops just don't exist much do they? Thanks again!

Yes!

Radio Shops do exist.

They are geared to mainly 800 Mhz trunking and commercial usage

There are about 4 shops in Charlotte that are pretty much sales & installation only.

I know one shop handles Motorola Sales & Installation

I know one that handles Motorola & Ericison (GE) Sales & Installation.

One shop deals with EF Johnson

One shop deals with Vertex and Kenwood & Tower Space Rentals

There maybe some other small shops that are not as popular as the 4 major ones are.

The big push here is the sale of State Viper & Digital Radios

Much of the Motorola stuff that comes in for service pretty much goes back to the depot for repair or is not supported anymore.

Just like Motorola doesn't support or repair their Minitor I, II, III, & IV pagers anymore.
