Charlotte Fire Dept - Talkaround channel

As background: Tonight there was a 3-alarm fire at the Harris Teeter in North Charlotte, off of Davis Lake Parkway.

They were operating on the UASI system, but had obvious radio coverage challenges inside the building, and they announced to switch over to Talkaround for comms.

My question is, What is that frequency? Is there a specific frequency for Charlotte Fire Dept fireground?
Are they using an 8TAC channel? If so, is there a specific one CFD always uses?
Is it analog or P25?
I see a few frequencies listed in the database for "Mecklenburg County Fire" talkaround and DVRS but not sure that includes CFD as well.
(Meck VFD's are a different agency than Charlotte FD)

(Obviously one would have to be close-by to pick-up on scanner, but in this case it wasn't far from me.)

My bet would be the "Direct" frequencies that each county/city are authorized to use, not sure if they are listed for all counties in the database but they are in Wake Co database listing. While each county is assigned a different NAC some are still using the default, so I would leave it as a NAC Search. Agencies other than fire are also heard on these frequencies. For example, I live near the SHP Training Center and hear them on the track often.

I'd think they were ...

700 MHz Public Safety

FrequencyAlpha TagDescriptionModeTag
769.00625DIRECT 1Direct 1P25Interop
769.01875DIRECT 2Direct 2P25Interop
769.03125DIRECT 3Direct 3P25Interop
769.04375DIRECT 4Direct 4P25Interop

I imagine their radios are programmed with a slew of conventional channels, (NIFOG) but they are probably located in a different zone or different system from their typical operations zone.

When they said "switch to Talkaround" there was no mention of anything specific like 8TAC91d or 7TAC something...
It was just referred as "Talkaround"

So this makes me curious that there is only one programmed in the normal operations zone. I'm speculating that it might be position #16.

Hopefully someone knows the details. Thanks!

I would venture
852.5125 156.7 as listed in the wiki

I saw that in the database, but since it's listed as "Mecklenburg" it makes me question it for CFD

(Mecklenburg County Fire is a different agency than Charlotte Fire Dept)

I will monitor it next time there is an active fire in my area.

Both Charlotte and county fire department templates use 8TAC93D so they can operate together on scene. It's located at position 15, just before the emergency channel so it's easy to find without looking.
But call it / Alpha TAG as Talk-Around

All Depends on who made the submission - there are always errors in the DB or perceptions based on individual hobbyists
