• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Howdy,

In my travels last evening, I think that I saw (glanced at, actually) a new talk groupd id in the area. If memory serves me correctly it was 30000. I could be wrong and it might have popped up here prior and just not be listed in the database. Did anyone else happen to catch it and know what it might be linked to?

Also, I also saw that they were talking around on the Zone 14 Blue. What are those zones and what sectors do the colors represent? Just a newbie and curious.

I think talkgroups like that (26000, 30000, 34000) may be used for general broadcasts, lookouts, etc. Sort of an all talkgroup (ATG).

However, I think some more listening is needed before we can say what they're definitely used for.
