• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

The park uses the DEP frequencies, mostly channel 5 (159.4650 PL 179.9). I would have all of the DEP frequencies programmed in, as the State Park Police jump from VHF to TRS from time to time. I also know that the staff uses cellular phones for most communications, even though as a volunteer at the Nature Center, I advised them against that. But when the equipment in use is over 20 years old, well, you know where I'm going with it...

You might want to call the Cheesequake park office before leaving. The park was closed the last few days due to storm damage but may be reopened by now.
