LOCATION: South Boulder Rd. at Cherryvale Rd. (Boulder County) On 1-23-08 at approximately 7:25 A.M. Troopers responded to So. Boulder Rd at Cherryvale Rd.
A red 2001 Daewood Lamas was traveling eastbound on So. Boulder Road at Cherryvale Rd. and a silver 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling westbound on So. Boulder Rd. also at Cherryvale Road. As the Daewood attempted a left turn, the right side of the vehicle collided with the front of the Chevrolet. The Daewood rotated counter clockwise 1/2 time in a westerly direction and struck a traffic light pole. The Daewood then rotated clockwise 3/4 of a time and came to final rest facing in an easterly manner. The driver of the Daewood was partially ejected. The Chevrolet after impact ran off the northwest corner of the intersection and collided with a traffic light box, a fence and then rolled 1/4 time onto its left side.
The unrestrained driver of the Daewood has been identified as Richard V.
Green, 42 of Boulder, CO. Green sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Saint Anthony's Central.
The restrained driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as Peter M.
Geise, 37 of Louisville, CO. Geise sustained no injuries and was not transported.
The driver of the Daewood has been charged with failing to yield the right of way when turning left in front of approaching traffic.
Alcohol, drugs are not suspected as contributing factors, however speed may have contributed.
