Chicago "CREW" Radio System

I've been looking for some info on this mysterious Chicago radio system for YEARS. Rumor has it is that it's some kind of "secret squirrel" radio network that's used by Police, Firefighters, news media, hams, civilians and all kinds of other wannabee's. (Sounds like The Loyal Order of Raccoons Lodge!)

I've heard it may operate on several "out of band" repeaters. Anybody have more info?

They used to run on a GMRS repeater, I think it was 462.550, but it has been years since I heard them there. I have also heard of MURS use by a bunch of south side Tac guys.
