For about the last month or two, I've been getting interference (intermod over voices) on the freq. of 155.205, even with the squelch turned all the way up on my Kenwood TM-V7A. The EMS service I run with in S.E. Indiana uses this freq, and the "interference" gets worse the closer I get to Cincinnati (I work in Cincy). The interference isn't always there, and I now realize that I usually only hear it during the local news shows (early mornings, noon, evening, and 11PM). Tonight I was in Harrison, OH and was getting it again, so I decided to narrow it down. I tuned to 155.210 and was able to make out the voices pretty well. It turns out to be the Producer at Channel 9 News. I heard him telling other operators to "Roll A, Roll B", "switch to camera 31", "roll voice over" etc. Apparently he screwed up once, because I heard him say "I screwed that one up... F**K ME!!". My grilfirend's eyes got really big when she heard that one! lol As I headed west (towards home) I had to keep dropping the freq. to be able to hear them. When I got home I was @ 155.180 and still able to hear them. Has anyone else noticed this? I tried to look up WCPO's license on the FCC website, but its down for MX right now.

The Ch. 9 News Department used to use 161.7000, but I have not listened to that
for a long time. What is the I.F. of your Kenwood? That may help in finding what
frequency the image is coming from.

They are also licensed for 161.7300

Mark,
The spec sheet on my Kenwwod lists it as: 1st/2nd 38.85MHz/450kHz on VHF and 45.05MHz/455kHz on UHF. I've only recently started picking it up, and after I found out what it was, I realized it only happens during the times that they do a newscast.

BTW, I've never really "talked" to a celebrity before... ;) I saw you and your shack in Pop Com or one of the other mags I get! I've been checking the MONIX site for many years, good stuff there.

AWww Shucks! ;)

I was talked into to doing that, because it was deadline time. Which I am supposed to
receive it now for a year, but I have yet to receive a copy of it.

I probably have THE most unorganized shack in the hobby.

Guess I'll have to put those frequencies in and see what I hear.

Keep us posted.

I work for SYX in Columbus a lot of stations use what is called pro channel during newscasts. This is an audio signal that runs in the secondary audio carier. Stations use this as an IFB to communicate to crews in the field. Not sure if that might have been what you were picking up.
