I was in a central Solano County repeater site today that I work at once in a while. I noticed that the CLEMARS 154.920 repeater there has been disconnected. Anyone know what's going on with that system?

There has never been authorization for repeater use on 154.920. Perhaps you mean a remote base station?

Whatever type of unit it is behind the beige cover with the big M logo - it isn't anymore as it is totaly unplugged. It didn't used to be that way, happened in the last six months or ??? I've been in & out of this site a few times in the last couple weeks, never had anyone else to talk to while I'm in there... Maybe it's being replaced, or mabye abandoned in place. Just a curiosity from a slightly more than casual observer.

This (Thurs.) morning from 9AM to 9:25 AM Modoc (?) county was running numerous tests with various agencies on CLEMARS VHF (154.920). This was heard frm Davis. Don't know if it is a daily, weekly or or some other random test. The frequency is still in use and active!

I believe CalEMA does a test on the 3rd Thurs of each month.

I picked up some tests on 462.950 CT 210.7 being run by Sutter County this Thursday morning (just after 9am). They identified the channel as "CLEMARS 1" and contacted every adjacent county to Sutter and most major Police Departments as well (including Davis PD).

The reason I even have this frequency programmed is because it is used for EMS in Calaveras county. I checked the database here and see that it is also listed as EMS in Butte, Sutter & Nevada counties; 3 that were part of the testing I heard. I might add that not all counties replied, but those which did also had a CT of 210.7.

This one confuses me and the only thing that might make sense is if the testing was performed over multiple frequencies simultaneously.

Maybe they got tired of hearing all the illegal inversion surveillances that go on on it? Yes California DOJ, we know it's you!

I heard some strange scrambled transmissions on 154.92 over the weekend. Santa Cruz County Com heard the same thing, and assked for the stranger's callsign. They never got an answer, nor did we hear any required official FCC callsign, when these mystery operators ceased their conversation. No morse code ID either.

Now, where is the FCC and their ticket book when their regulations are violated?

It's not unusual for several counties in a region, to be using the same PLs on those ten UHF repeater pairs assigned to ambulances and hospitals. We have the same arrangement over here on the coast too. The PLs listed in the database for Monterey county are the same for Santa Cruz and San Benito counties...

Maybe a little OT, but with no repeaters supposedly allowed on 154.92, who is repeating Modesto City PD CH5 Tac on there? It has been grinding away now for a couple of days, sometimes with quite distorted audio. Freq is 460.025.

It's funny you mention that. Down here by the border, 460.025 is used heavily by mexican stations.

Well is it on 154.92 or 460.025? Your post is unclear.

Modesto uses UHF clemars as a tac channel. They have for sometime. I'm pretty sure that's ok.

That must have been a Commlink test, because Davis PD absolutely does not have any UHF radio gear, and I'm pretty sure they got rid of their VHF Clemars transmitter years ago.

I was wondering which channel it was as Modesto signals are sketchy here. It makes sense to patch them plus gets the DOJ off the channel (they'll move to NALEMARS probably).

Often the speech inversion surveillances involve a bird so they busy the channel for most of the day.
