I live in CT and use a 996p2.

Try holding on the frequency and see if it happens.

You may be scanning too many systems or have delay and hold times set too long.

Good luck 👍

The important thing to know are if you can see on the display that the scanner actually stops on the frequency and then it takes a while until you hear the audio? Then it can be a setting, digital delay, priority or something like that, that interferes. Turn off all prio settings and closecall and see if that helps and set digital delay to 0.

It needs to be on the frequency when a transmission starts or you will miss the first part until the scanner have reached the frequency in its scan cycle and unmutes the audio.

What programming software are you using? If it is a digital talkgroup or conventional frequency, set the audio type to Digital instead of Any. The scanner will not need to waste time deciding what it is. Likewise, set the audio type to analog if that is what it is.

Is this for 33.80 and 33.90? Did you enter the frequencies in the Qck Save Cnv Sys or did you create a conventional system to put the frequencies into? If you created a conventional system, what is its name? For those frequencies: Set Audio Type should be Analog Only. Set Modulation should be FM. When you select Analog Only, it will allow you to enter a PL tone. Select CTCSS and and 179.9. Low band frequencies can be susceptible to noise. With the PL tone, you can lower the squelch level. You will not hear any noise with the squelch wide open when using a PL tone. I see the frequencies in the database.

Are you able to receive state police? Check my previous post for information you may have missed. I edited some additions that you may not have seen. Refresh the forums and check.

I don't have any problems on my 996p2 in ct so it must be the way it's programmed.
