That additional question regarding Avon’s CLMRN I mentioned is here;

The Connecticut Land Mobile Radio Network (CLMRN) in Avon, CT, includes sites related to emergency services and public works. Specific locations include a Dish Wireless site at 277 Huckleberry Hill Road, and sites associated with Avon Fire, Police, and Public Works.Additionally, there are repeaters on Deercliff, Ridgewood Road, and Lofgren.

These 4 additional sites mentioned, (Huckeleberry Hill Rd., Deercliff, Ridgewood Rd., and Lofgren are considered “sub-sites”? (Sorry if sub-sites is not the correct terminology for these added sites). How are they linked to Avon’s connection to the CLMRN’s hub? Are they to be treated just like the Hartford site that RR lists for Avon and added along with the Hartford site? (RR only lists that one Hartford simulcast site.) Should I add the additional sub-sites? Or are these sub-sites connected by micro-wave or telephone lines which would negate the need to program them as they would mean nothing to the scanner?

Some background, where I’m coming from…
Some of the Simsbury FD members, (including my Son) had purchased BCD996P2’s, primarily to be able to monitor the Simsbury Police Dept. The scanner purchases predated Avon’s migration to CLMRN. So, when Avon came online with CLMRN I added Avon FD to my Son’s BCD996P2. Now, others want to include Avon in their scanners also. And I have been asked to do the add. Apparently, when I added Avon to my Son’s scanner I didn’t back it up in my files, so, until I “read” my Son’s scanner back into my programming software I won’t know if I had included those sub-sites or not. If I did, and they are not needed is the question. Should I include them? I’m guessing probably not if it’s not RF that’s being used to link them up with the CLMRN’s hub.

They would very likely be linked by microwave or fiber. They share the frequencies of the Troop H Simulcast, there are no new frequencies to add.
The trunked system has 3 sites in Avon, on Montevideo Rd (State owned site), Huckleberry Hill Rd (Avon owned site) and on Ridgewood Rd (Avon owned site). The other sites mentioned may well be for the various old systems that the town used.

Technical question here, Do the additional sites added to the H subsystem require a site controller at each site, I have been assuming that the sites have a link to the Troop H simulcast cell where they utilize the Troop H prime site controller.

H is the site, it has one site controller at the prime site, which talks to the Zone controller for zone 1 (and the DSR zone) and it talks to the individual towers within the simulcast.
