I hear the portable poles referred to as fishing poles generally 15-20ft tall. The tips are very small From what I have found.
Also is there a stake/tube that goes in the ground for the pole to sit in?
Suggestions welcome as I am going in circles online researching this.
Its for QRP portable eventually.

Fishing pole tubes might work for support, some thick aluminum ones go pretty deep. Screw in beach umbrella holder work okay. Gotta match diameters. I used a screw in dog leash with a I think a Shakespeare fishing pole and a very light dual band.

A little height helps a lot.

How portable? For larger poles like fiberglass telescopic poles and carbon fiber poles I use a pvc support tube with pole to pole brackets attached to bike rack. I guess those are mobile rather than portable.

For the 2nd story balcony I use 12 inch wall offsets attached to a hardwood board that clamps onto several railings with another hardwood backboard via long threaded bolts, gets me about 55 feet off the ground with a carbon fiber telescopic pole and an arrow 3 element yagi and a little shorter with diamond x50 and diamond x200 and a couple other dual banders. People take pictures but so far no formal complaints; I put it up for a few hours at a time and take it down.

But a good backpackable 20 footer would be nice. I use a few pvc sections to get Elk 2band up about 12 feet handheld and fits in a small zipper bag, and that works well. Just the other day heard some people talking about the twist lock carbon fiber telescopic poles, must be some decent short ones out there. Chinese manufacturers seem to have a lot.of them but I'm afraid to order on alibaba.

To fit diameters for the mobile poles I use pvc tubes, cut them lengthwise and heat them to expand them, or cut a lengthwise section out and heat it up and fit on the pole and hold it tight while it cools. Whichever works to get a good fit.

Always wondered about these, maybe 32 footer but only use it to 20 feet with a light yagi or vertical..

I've had several of the 31 to 33ft fiberglass telescoping masts and the orange Jackite was the worst. It fell over once when fairly new and shattered. I had a German made version that was carbon fiber and it was great, lasted a good 20yrs of abuse and you could bend the tip all the way back to the base with out it breaking. I forget the brand but it was the guys German call sign. There was another brand that was green color offered on Ebay that ran about $120 and it was thicker fiberglass than most and terminated in a 1/4" dia metal cap. That one would hold a wire at the top where the others with the super pointy tips were useless for the last few feet so you got about 31ft of useful mast from 33ft of fiberglass. That was my second favorite and lasted about 10yrs before it broke near the top.

Is the OP looking for a mast to hold up a wire for HF or to hold up an aluminum antenna?
