• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm trying to find a paint color code for Motorola's "High Impact Green" - like APX 8000XE radios. Has anyone color matched it before and know the paint code? Motorola doesn't sell it or have the code. Examples here and attached.

Note: This doesn't need to be high-heat or hazmat safe. Just need for a daily-use radio that won't go into IDLH environments.

Does this tool provide any paint with reflective capability, say if I'm along highways or cars can see I'm on the way to a hot incident with my Motorola Luxury Transceiver? and one needs to be seen

There used to be a paint shop near me that custom mixes automotive paint and puts it in spray cans for you. It used to be $24 for two small cans but if you need an odd color its priceless. I think all the Luxury Transceiver owners around here go to this guy.

Even with automotive paint I don't think its going to be durable enough for rough use like "hot incidents" or "on scene". Its a Luxury Transceiver, I would just let it sit on the belt and look pretty.

I am looking for a black color control top for my apx7000xe.. used to be hi vis yellow and got it recased except finding a black XE top control is close to impossible.. on top of it all they run around $400.. I’d be willing to trade.. it’s not brand new and has some tiny hardly visible imperfections

If nobody sees me, does it count as a call. How wiLl tHeY THAnk me FOR my SErvIcE?

Okay joking aside - and the well-deserved elitism/luxury label these posts generate - I really just need it for marking a few UASI portables. Think I'll go the color-match route via a local paint supplier. Appreciate the ideas. And the good laughs.
