Can I get freqs, or are these guys encrypted?? Thanks!

Sure you can get freqs.
Put your scanner in search mode, limits 162.0000 MHz to 174.0000 MHz, 12.5 KHz steps
Search. Lots. You'll find most of your local federal activity. Don't be suprised if it's 99% digital/encrypted, though. Some areas, they haven't gotten the encryption 'bug', and don't bother. Other places, they won't sneeze without encrypting it.
Consider yourself very, very lucky that you don't live near the US border, and thus don't have to contend with hundreds of mexican or canadian systems in the same range.
