In live in NW Columbus near Tuttle Mall. Between Dublin and Hilliard. Right now, I've got my old BC296D working pretty well. Listening to COIRS and two CPD Zones covering my area. Also programmed Upper Arlington police and fire.

Now I'd like to work on Columbus Fire and EMS for my area.....again Dublin/Hilliard area near Tuttle Mall. I can't believe all the talkgroups....obviously covering a huge area of Columbus. Does anyone know which talkgroups would tend to cover my area, so I can only input those for my Id Scans? So many firegrounds, so many tacs, so many ops. Don't know where to start to fine-tune my situation.

Thanks for the help. I'm getting closer and closer to hopefully being done programming and figuring out my scanner. I just want to listen for a change!

That area is Battalion 7 fire ground, so you'll want to program in all of the talkgroups associated with Battalion 7. Battalion 5 borders to the south in the Westland Mall area and Battalion 3 borders to the southeast in the OSU/Clintonville area. Sometimes there is overlap and it may be useful to program those in as well.

Here are the most important:

272 - 10 FIRE Fire/EMS Automated Dispatch
80 - CFD EMS1 EMS Medical Ops
5168 - 10 DISP Unit to dispatcher
5392 - 9 FRWY EMS freeway operations
5520 - 9 MEDFLT EMS tactical to Medflight
496 - BN1 FG Fireground - Bn1
528 - BN2 FG Fireground - Bn2
560 - BN3 FG Fireground - Bn3
592 - BN4 FG Fireground - Bn4
624 - BN5 FG Fireground - Bn5
656 - BN6 FG Fireground - Bn6
688 - BN7 FG Fireground - Bn7
880 - BN7 ALT Fireground alternate - Bn7
5232 - BN7 TAC1 Fireground tactical - Bn7
5264 - BN7 TAC2 Fireground tactical - Bn7
5296 - BN7 TAC3 Fireground tactical - Bn7
5328 - BN7 TAC4 Fireground tactical - Bn7

Your area is in Battalion 7 however I would program all the FG channels. They are assigned by which Battalion Chief is assigned.

Just to add - W8RMH is the authority on C-bus.

Appreciate the posts , even though just let one roll over the entire Db when there :)

I certainly, certainly value all the knowledge you guys have accumulated. Not everyone enjoys sharing with newbies, but luckily here it's quite obvious many are glad to assist. Just finished doing the inputs, and my scanner is receiving them all in great fashion. It's been well worth reviving my old scanner. Been listening to ssb lately on my Kaito 1103, but scanner listening in one's local area is so much more interesting ..... at least for me. Chuck

One more piece of advice... I'm suspect one thread would have sufficed for inquiring about how to setup your scanner for monitoring around the NW Columbus area instead of 4.
