Next Monday December 18, Lord willing I will be coming to Tampa for the week. While I go to Tampa fairly often, This is the first time I will be bringing a handheld scanner with me. I have a new pro-96 I purchased about a month ago. According to the RR database Hillsborough County is now using Pro Voice and Analog. Are they still using the East and West system, and will I be able to pick the up? Also according to RR Tampa is still using coventional frequencies. does that still hold true? I guess my question is this. Isit worth it to take the Radio along? Or, will it be a waste of time? Thanks in advance. Sure hope it's warm down there. BTW, Whats wrong with our 'Bucs? Thanks again! All of the info is correct. There is very little ProVoice, so you won't miss much.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. The Hillsborough system is just a regular Trunking analog system correct? BTW What does your monitor and your Kenwood radios do? I love your setup! Thanks again for your help.

Clay.

Yep, it's regular EDACS trunking. It's 99 % analog.

I use the Kenwood's built-in TNC to run UI-View 32 for APRS. Look through the thread and you'll see a discussion about the other software programs.

Good luck.

I lived in Tampa for 21yrs. and I can tell you that you will be overloaded with scanner activity there. It will never shut up 24-7 unless you turn it off.
