• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

This is a computer problem I would like to fix if possible. I have a wired ethernet network that consists of five computers, three running XP and 2 running Win 98 & DOS.(Because I still need them to run old programming software)

I have Adobe Acrobat 7 only on the one fast XP computer; that also has the laserjet that will print on both sides, etc. I can share Acrobat over the network with all the XP machines, but I think I need a driver for win 98 but I cannot find anything on the Adobe or Microsoft sites or on the Win 98 cd.
The reason is that sometimes I need to print from some of those old programs that will not run on XP. (Maybe this is not possible because Acrobat 7 will only run on XP)

Any ideas?

Here is my idea. Copy the text in a document in the old program, then paste it into a document generated in a new program.

If you have trouble when you paste it into the new document, try this. In the EDIT menu, click "paste special". That will give you a couple of choices.

That would work except ANY program on the win 98 machines won't print to Acrobat on the XP computer running Acrobat. One thing that works but is a lot of trouble is printing to a file then sending the file to the other computer over the network.

Thanks for Responding anyway!

Exactly what programs are we talking about? And what file formats? The solution will be different for different situations.

Yep, that is probably why no driver seems to exist for Acrobat 7 that would work for Win 98.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
