Hey everyone. I don't have much experience in logging programs, awards and such, so maybe you guys can help me out. I currently have QSL confirmations through LOTW, EQSL and QRZ. I've been logging these individually. Problem is, what happens when I have some confirmations on QRZ that don't use LOTW, and some confirmations that use only eQSL and not the other 2, and some that do only direct paper QSLs? Maybe the answer is merging one into the others, but I've never really done that- not sure how to ever do it. Is there a simple way?

Not sure this answers your question. I use Ham Radio Delux and the integrated logbook program. All contacts initially logged there when they occur. That logbook program allows me to push them to LoTW and eQSL. Every couple of weeks I will poll those two sites thru the logbook program for matching confirmations. That process will change flags for each of the contacts from unconfirmed to confirmed as needed. That status change will be reflected in the display locally on my logbook program. I don't use QRZ so no help there. That's not a negative not using QRZ, just a personal choice only to keep up with the other two.

Point is keep your records local in a logbook program. Other information can be included in the contact record that will not be a part of the LoTW or eQSL online record.

Hope that helps.

Mike

You can link your QRZ.com logbook to your LotW account so that confirmations received in LotW will automatically update on QRZ.com.

Since LotW is designed to match two QSO records based on date, time, frequency, mode, and callsign, both you and your QSO partner have to upload your QSO records to LotW in order to get a QSL there. In other words, you may upload to LotW that you've contacted me on a certain date, time, frequency, and mode, but unless I upload a QSO to LotW saying that I contacted you on that same date, time, frequency, and mode, we don't have a QSL of the contact. The bottom line here is that even if you have confirmations of contacts at eQSL or QRZ, that doesn't mean a thing to LotW until your QSO partner confirms it with a matching upload to LotW.

I am doing the same exact thing too. I also use QRZ, LoTW and eQSL. However, I do not log on eQSL just confirm contacts as a courtesy for those that use it.

My understanding is you cannot "merge" these entities together into one main log for awards. So for example you have 49 confirms on LoTW and need that one ham in a certain State to confirm for WAS, but that ham does not use LoTW and confirmed you on QRZ instead, I have no idea how you would go about getting a WAS award from the ARRL if that ham never logs into or participates in LoTW as well.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong....

You have it correct. You will have to wait for the QSO from the ham that uses LoTW. One option is to send a QSL card to the ham in question. If he responds there is a way to register that card for credit in LoTW.

Thanks.

Yes, sending a QSL card is a great idea for that elusive confirm that lives in a cave and has no internet.
