What is the reason for the constant analog presence on a total digital interface system, Richmond system, repeater 853.1250. After every transmission on this repeater, the scanner hangs up until this repeater is used again, i'm tired of hitting the scan button over and over again!

Squelch turned up? Could be RFI in your listening environment. Are you observing this indoors? outdoors? both? from more than one listening location?

See if your scanner has a setting for "Digital End Signal" that is turned off. Or maybe their transmitter is sticking and since it is digital, they are not aware of it.

Make sure your squelch is set higher than 0 or 1. This occurs when it's receiving too much noise from the frequency and it thinks the frequency is still active. Try bumping squelch up to 3 or 4.

You need to say what receiver you are using-a very few have a mode that does exactly as you describe.

Do not have problem with antenna off at all, mobile or base. Also if I run scanner with indoor only power antenna, old Radio Shack model, never any problem at all. Only problem exists with stock non power antenna on up irregardless

I haven't been listening to the system lately, but would go along with the possibility of a sticking repeater. Chesterfield had one for quite a while some years ago.

This could be it as well. I only mentioned squelch because I accidentally knocked mine down to 0 when monitoring the same system and found it very weird that it was sitting on TGs long after the voice had ended. Then I realized why lol.

I believe all of the Richmond talkgroups are simulcasted on the Chesterfield site by default (either that or Richmond subs are constantly affiliated to Chesterfield), so if you're within range, it may be worth a shot to see if it's only Richmond's cell or if it's a scanner issue.

Only certain TG's are simulcast between the zones. Generally those for police, fire & ems dispatch, and possibly fire/ems response tacs. I don't think that Colonial Heights simulcasted outside the Chesterfield zone unless a vehicle headed up toward Richmond.

Last I surveyed this, police surveillance, fire admin, dog catchers and dump trucks would only be broadcast outside their zone if a vehicle using that TG affiliated with a site outside its zone. I think that University of Richmond PD may also be in this category, which is pretty interesting since they border Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield. I've caught them on Chesterfield in the past.

Even so, your idea should work find for the OP if he's listening to Richmond dispatch TG's.
