Hello, I have the UNIDEN 396 hand held digital scanner and I'm wondering why I can make it lock on the control channel of my choice like I can with my old 250D, Sometimes I need to listen to the weaker control channels due to the area I'm in being covered by a troop who's control channel isn't the predominantly strong one.

Is there a way I can set this scanner to pick up on the control channel of my choice or am I stuck with whatever it picks up?

Thanks.

I don't have a 250D but do have a 796D so I assume the same holds true for both of them. The only way I can "choose" a CCh is to lock out the earlier ones in the list of frequencies, so that the one I want to use is the first one it encounters when it searches the list.

The same is true for the 396T; when scanning the system in question (no traffic), press <Hold> (display will show current CCh), press <L/O> and it will be locked out. Press <SCAN> and it will find the next one in the list.

Control channel lockout?

Funny, mine doesn't always do that (though it should). I have a 396 with latest firmware, and it will often use a frequency that displays "L/O". Really annoying when it happens... seems related to the remaining channels being weak and not easily found.

As a voice channel or a CCh? Do you have all the frequencies programmed or just the CCh's?

I just tried it here on a local P25 (I only have the one) and if I lock out the CCh it just doesn't get anything.
