• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Download freescann, get the correct connecter, Then create new system (conventional), then create a group you want to put it in(police, fire, misc etc) then enter the frequencie in the group... then upload it to the scanner...

sorry, I love FreeScan.... This program saved my sanity... It just makes it so easy...

This is not the time nor place to enter into my stump speech on "free" software, except to observe that I am a professional, expect to be paid for my work, and always purchase software from other professionals and don't mind paying them for their work.
I too have a BCD 396XT and both the 996XT (and the 996T). I program them with the ARC-XT software from Butel. A very complete PDF manual can be downloaded (approx 80 pages) complete with colour screen shots that will take the user through all the steps to program all sorts of systems. Yes, the manual does stress how to do "trunking systems" since they are more complex and the systems that many users have difficulties with.
