• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am attempting to set up a NX-5700 to replace an NX-700

I have both NX-700 (KPG-111dn) AND nx-5700 (kKPG-1d) software, KPG-46 cable, etc.

When I try to use NX-700 .dat file (contains the frequency data), the NX-5700 correctly identifies that it was gen'd with KPG-111 and will not load it. KPG-111 does not appear to have an export option.....

Any suggestions?

Merging and copy paste of programing content between the two is not going to happen, unfortunately you will have to start from scratch with the programming on your NX5000 series radios.

I agree with dapaq2. I had to migrate our PD from older radios to some NX-5700s. Time to sit down at the computer and get typing.

111 will export you info out to a .itm file, this fill will IMPORT to D1.

111, file/export/ name file save.
D1, menu/import (the 111 filename.itm) then adjust the zones as needed.

Same thing with kpg141
Same import settings for D3 also
Just have to have the proer function enabled.

Not at my PC to verify before answering the question, Oops, Sorry! The .itm file extension does sound familiar but I do not remember ever having much success with merging/exporting/importing programming data between first gen and second gen models, that is why i answered the way i did. Just found it to be better in the long run to start from scratch. Besides there are changes you make in the future and Kenwood will force wipe out the data and you have to start from scratch anyway! You dont understand now but you will see what i mean once you have messed around with the software a little while...

Thanks, but the export option is grayed out on the 111 softyware....

AT least there's hope

Thanks for the response

Not sure why the export is not working, that would be the easiest way to create the new data file, but you can copy all to "clipboard with headings" and use Excel to copy and pate back into D1N. you will have to address the QT and DQT values before you paste into D1N. On the QT you just need to multiply values by 10, the DQT are octal values and will need to be addressed accordingly. Using Excel to create new data files is a major time saver.
