• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

It's pointless to run Unitrunker on their system. They are now full time encrypted.

Funny part of Dade County is Coral Gables has no reason to be encrypted, even the dispatch channels. Now if you are Sweetwater or Miami Gardens where the city leaders are full of outstanding people, now they should be encrypted. Oh wait, Miami Gardens is encrypted. I wonder why?

Coral Gables P25

Coral Gables switched to the P25 system months ago. They still maintain the EDACS system.
The P25 has Phase 1 and Phase 2 on it.
It is NOT full time encrypted.
FD & LG are unencrypted.
PD is mostly encrypted. But not all.
Some PD stuff is simulcast on the old system.
If you have the right scanners then it is an easy system to monitor.

I happen to be in Coral Gables now visiting and brought my 436 along. I thought I programmed the three listed control channels for the P25 system correctly and did an ID search for any talkgroups but so far nothing. Any advice on how to successfully monitor this system or any known TGs would be appreciated.

I wonder why CG built out a whole system instead of just getting on the Dade TRS. What a waste of taxpayer money. Well I guess CG folks are okay with paying huge tax bills.
