I have an SDS200, and bought a programmed SD card . . .when I received it in the mail and installed it, the screen showed a corruption error.
I followed instructions - turn off scanner, unplug, and replace card.

What caused this ??

Return it and get your money back, there are a number of users here on RR that will help you get your scanner programmed for free.

No telling what caused the corruption, could be the programmer who wrote the file, differences in systems being used, magnetic readers at the post office, etc.

If you post where you are, city/county/state and what you are wanting to listen to, someone will help you.

SD card should be shipped with some protection if they are pre-programmed.

Do you have the DMR upgrade, most electricity providers are using DMR.

Looking at your county in the database, public safety (police, fire, EMS) appear to be conventional channels, on Vhf-high, which your scanner can handle with no issues.

However, as Enforcer noted, your utilities are mostly using DMR. See this page. Taking a quick look at an adjoining county (Washington) the utilities in that county also use DMR. While you need the DMR upgrade to receive them, hopefully you did not order that from wherever you purchased the scanner. Dealers mark the cost for upgrades by $15 to $20 over the cost (Zip Scanners adds about twice that) if you order direct from Uniden. Register your scanner on the myUniden site, and order the upgrade there for $60. Entering the key is easily done. It must be done on the scanner. There is not a file to download & install.

Unless you specified exactly what you wanted, when you ordered a programmed card, odds are that utilities were not added. Your county would be extremely easy to program, appending with a few clicks from the main database in Sentinel. Whoever programmed the card sent to you should provide a replacement pre-programmed card. In most cases, notes on the ordering page indicate that programming services are not refundable, (see ScannerMaster's website for an example), but they still owe you a working card.

Makes no difference. You can still reformat it and use Sentinel to program what you need
True, but whoever did the programming owes him a card. If he could get a refund on the programming, then a reformat, then "clear user data" would set the stage to program easily via Sentinel.

Good move. Did you purchase the DMR upgrade as well from the dealer?

I do not have facilities to program the card myself . . .that is why I bought a programmed card . . . .
I take it that you might not have a PC with internet access. Is that correct? (You can do this with a Mac, but that requires software so that the Mac can use Windows when needed.)

See this Wiki page on installing Sentinel. Even if you bough a "pre-programmed" card from whoever,, you'll still need Sentinel to install any firmware updates. You can also update the database used in the scanner as well as in Sentinel. If you install Sentinel, than any number of us, here in the forums, could create a programming file that you could import and install (there are easy step by step instructions available). But your programmer still owes you either a working card, or a refund.
