• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello I'm looking for instructions on removing the housing of a Motorola CP200 radio. I'm restoring these radios because they are beaten to death. I'm looking for some quick instructions. Also does anyone know where to buy housings for these radios that are not from hongkong or any other country. I want one that comes from the us.

Thanks Matt

Matt, PM me your email address and I will send you the basic service manual for the CP150 and CP200 which contains instructions on removing the radio from the case.

Can't help you with aftermarket housings.

You will only get genuine case's thru Motorola. Check with your local dealer.

Thanks for the input. I have a manual now. Now how do I get the knobs off another way? I do t have a tool and they seem to hard to pull without breaking. Any suggestions?

I think they just pull off. They appear similar to the HT1250 which are tough to get off too. Motorola sells a small shoe horn looking tool that is used to do it but I've never seen anyone remove them without marring the case a little bit.

I just got down under it and leveraged it while turning it at times. Eventually it will start to move.

Give it hell it will eventually move. You have to put quite a bit of pressure on it.

All else fails... Dermmel tool to cut a slit in the knob and split it to save the radio control(s).

I read your post on the CP200. Tried to PM you guys but too new to the site and it wouldn't let me. How can I get a copy of that basic manual you referred to?

Thanks

Me too. I am in the process of refurbing my CP200s and would like to see this before I begin.

Thanks.
