• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey yall, I am pretty new to CPS 36. I am just wondering the best way to get my codeplug exported into excel and do some editing then imported back, or at the very least the best way to add a few conventional personality. Thank you for your time and tips!

Why export and edit if the CPS allows you to do..? Purpose of this is to remove certain areas of as codeplug instead of the entire file.
I was trying to get it into excel to more easily add a bunch of conventional personalities. Im finding that cps 36 is very slow and this takes a while. If excel is just there to remove parts of codeplugs then ill just type everything in lol. I'd figure there was a more ergonomic way to do this but it sounds like not. Thank you for the reply!

CPS was never designed to export and import. It has abilities (xml) but in the end its faster to do it in CPS. I'm running 36 and have no issues with speed or slow once the porgam is open. In huge codeplugs its always been a bit slow. Guess it all dependso n pc and useage but thats been my experience.

It's slow...espeically when you start dealing with multiple P25 systems and 25+ zones.

It really does depend on PC specs, I have 40+ zones and it runs perfectly fine for adding and editing things. It is a bit slow when switching between systems. Nothing unusable though.

As of 15 minutes ago my NEXT has 179 zones, 42 trunkin systems...yup it take a second to change system or zone when i'm editing but its no slower than other versions I've used. YMMV...

I am running a work provided HP PC 13Gen 1.8G with 64GB of ram and 2 TB SSD.

It's agonizingly slow compared to Armada, RES or RPM 2. Hell, even Armada Server over a T1 is faster.

My current laptop is a 12 core, 32 GB machine with 256 GB of NVMe.
