Alright, this freaked me out at first!

While watching TV, I started seeing lights, soon to find out it was a helicopter. It did about 10 passes over my house, almost like he was spraying for misquitoes (which he wasnt, I was outside shortly after)

My first impression was to run and get the scanner, As soon as I turned it on, I was getting alot of activity on 165.2375 MHz, FM, PL Tone 100.0. The signal was coming in 5 bars. Very clear.

After hitting the record button, I ran outside, and saw it fly over, once again. I cannot stress how low it was. It was lower than the misquito control helis, and looked to be like a possible HH-65. I couldnt see the color, but it was definately a darker aircraft.

Could it be CBP? I scanned the local F & PD, and got nothing, either one. And it definately wasnt a misquito control.

I am recording now, as I said before, on 165.2375 MHz, FM.

Thanks!

I posted this on Milradiocomms.

They were probably looking for that guy who's ratting them out. Posting stuff they are saying over their, for some ungodly reason, unenencrypted radio traffic as it's being aired. No threat where i live and every stupid federal frequency is freakin encrypted but where the supposedly threats (drug runners, illegal aliens, terrorists, etc) are they are unencrypted. Makes since to me. Geesh. Btw, just kidding about the first part. But you never know.

Haha, they were almost gonna be having to hover over my house. No lie, they were probably at or atleast 50' away from my antenna.

I almost know it was a CBP chopper.

They did it Friday also. Maybe they are trying to scare me :p hahaha

Cbp

165.2375 is a CBP freq. Listen to your local VHF tower, or approach airport freqs for them. They should be using SIERRA, or OMAHA call signs.

Try these 2 freqs also for Customs & Border Patrol.

So, they were really close to your antenna. lets say they hit and damaged it. Would it be on them to fix it or would you just be up the creek?

They were pretty close to it. No lie. Probably around 50-75 feet above it. Seriously.

Anyway, they use OMAHA here as much as they use 1Mike Romeo, and 1 going up for each aircraft.

They shouldn't be able to locate the antenna unless it was transmitting, right ?

You should know that :)

Heck no

One of my friends is a officer in Naples, he told me a boat was missing. So that's what it was. I guess they were searching the canals and rivers near the island.
