Hi there. Just picked up a BC396T with ARC396- I was in Mass. when I got it and loaded all the different CSP sites into different systems in the radio. What I am wonering is, as you drive up the Merritt from say Greenwich to 91/84 to the Mass Pike, what site would you use to listen? I played on the way down tonight and did OK...used 'Tolland' first and had 'Middlesex' on also- Toland seemed to be what it locked on to most of the way- think I had 'Windham' or some such on too. When I got further down I turned on 'Fairfield No' and that worked fine. When I got towards Wilton/Westport I switched to 'Fairfiled So' which was also fine.
So, did I hit it about right? Obviously I'll have to check out the Troop Maps.....also am wondering what Troop covers I-95 Greenwic to Westport and Merritt same span?
Thanks so much.

Troop "G" headquartered in Bridgeport covers all of the Merritt Parkway and I-95 in Fairfield County. I believe their territory also extends along I-95 for some distance into lower New Haven County as well.

Got it

Thanks. I was able to find the Trop Map in the Files Section of the ConnScan Yahoo Group and see that. Have I got the site info about righ for what sites to switch to en route?

I have found that programming the different sites as seperate systems tedious, unreliable and it uses quite a bit of memory.

What I did was placed all the CC's in one system. When one site starts to fade, I remove the antenna for about 10 seconds (till "FM" is displayed where the CC frequency was) then attach the antenna again. About 90% of the time the scanner locks onto a stronger CC.

Use Zone 8 from Mass line to around Meriden. Try switching to Zone 1 when the reception get crappy. If Zone 1 isn't good yet, try Zone 2. Check Zone 1 again closer to New Haven. Once you are ok using Zone 1, you probably will stay on it through to NY.

There is no great way to set up the CSP for just crossing the state. If you use 1 zone per system (banks in the older scanners) you will end up with too many systems which costs in terms of scanning speed (1 second minimum per active bank (system)). You also can use 1 system and put all the CC in it however, the first one that is strong enough to demodulate is what you will lock onto. You may be using a Zone away from the highway that does not carry everything you wish to hear. If you rely on turning systems (banks) on and off, you may not notice the loss of a CC.

If all you are going to do is the 91/15 trip then zone 1, 2, 8 will probably be enough. That would take 3 seconds to scan through if you get all 3 zones at once. (eventually zone 8 will be in West Haven and then 1 and 8 will suffice)

Look On This Site & You should Find A Map with The Zones/Barracks Info For where Your Driving. Off The Top Of My Head, I Think There Is about 11/12 Zones For Ct.
