Hi everyone, I recently purchased one of these old things to toy around with and maybe practice usinh before I get a HAM license as I am a big militaria guy more than a radio guy and I thought it would at least be neat to get it up and running and try to listen in to some potential local chatter and figure out how this thing works. I am not super knowledgeable about radios or electronics in general, however I was fortunate enough to find several translated manuals and helpful nuggets of info on the web.

Many suggested buying a 6v sealed lead acid battery for this radio and replacing the original battery pack. I purchased a new battery (SPS Brand 6V 3.2Ah (Termina LT1) Replacement Battery for General Electric/Ge 2037103-016 : Health & Household) and now have both the battery and radio. As someone who's green to radios and working with electronics in general (but not afraid to tinker!) what would be the best way to hook up this battery (or others, if it would be easier) without completely destroying the internals of the battery compartment? I'd like to preserve it as much as i possibly can even if that seems a little silly, but I'm not against removing parts that can be put away somewhere. If needed I can post pictures when I am home.

Thanks in advance!
