I bought one of these about 12 Months ago from Tecsun Australia.
It's been mounted on the roof of my house & I was quite happy with the reception.
Earlier this month I noticed reception was reduced in UHF.
Tracking a trunking control channel on 415.5500, my Nagoya NL-144SP 2 Meter whip was better.
It was still working fine on HF & VHF.
I brought it down to examine it.
I have a basic understanding on how they work.
I found there was no continuity between the center pin & the horizontal metal ring that houses the UHF radials.
That center part comes all assembled in the kit.
The diagram show a spring washer held in place by the VHF loading coil.
This one actually had a stainless nut.
I removed this nut & could see there was a plastic type bush which would have been insulating the ring from the thread.
I couldn't really see the point of the bush as the nut would have connected the two anyway.
But for some reason this wasn't happening at this point of time.
Didn't appear to be any dirt or corrosion in the area.
Refitting it & tightening it down achieved a perfect contact.
So I mounted the antenna on a temporary stand in the yard & it worked perfect again.
Was Just wondering if anyone else had come across this.
