The Dallas 911 Call Center went under full control of the Dallas Police Dept. on 10/1.Before the 911 Center was run by Dallas Fire/Rescue.My question is anyone knows if any DFR personal will still work in the Call Center as dispatchers, etc. or will it be DPD personal ONLY ???? Thanks foe any Info...

I know a while ago, the 911 center was split into 3 main rooms, the call center where the calls are recieved, the DFR dispatch center, and the DPD dispatch (531). If it is in fact under DPD control, I dont see much changing except in terms of supervisors , but would be really short-sighted to make any personnel changes that took the experienced DFR dispatchers and replaced them with anyone else...it would be life threatening to the firefighters on the ground.

9-1-1 Staff, meaning those that answer the phone first when you dial 9-1-1 were under DFR. They would then transfer the call to the DFR comm group for Fire/EMS calls, which were answered by uniformed fire staff.

The 9-1-1 Group, including calltakers, line supervisors, and mgmt, now report to DPD executive management instead of DFR executive mgmt.
