Not currently, and not likely ever, for any digital cordless technologies.
Don't quote me on it, but DECT 6.0 may have encryption built in.

I thought that people would have gotten over the cellphone/cordless
listening phase, much as some of us have gotten over the need to listen
to police when to do so (other than OPP) becomes difficult if not impossible.

Dave....I could care less about Police ENC..Phones etc....what I do like is Programs able to decode stuff ....anyways , I had asked about DECT 6.0 because I know little about it....However I found a few decoders for DECT 6.0 that run on Linux... I had read this

Sniffing DECT Wireless Devices

I was VERY surprised at what I read , then I moved on to other articles.

Its a good read , is all the use I got out of it....I was never much of a phone listener...even tho my local cell site can be heard ....

I was thinking out loud a bit, making a general comment about police/phone listening.

Interesting that DECT 6.0 decoders are out there, but your original question was
about scanners. My point is, I can hardly see scanner manufacturers pursuing
anything down this line; if anything, a TRBO and/or NXDN/NEXEDGE option would
be nice, but not holding my breath. Don't know about the near-north of Ont.but around
here, the UHF bands are starting to fill up with dozens of TRBO channels, and
more on the way.

DAVE : I enjoy any type of Sound Card Decoders....I used em all over the yrs...I should have stated that heheh..ahh Im gettin old I forget...

I was curious if scanners can hear dect 6.0 I have no idea....when I saw thew Linux decoders I was thinking , doesnt dect have cryto ?

Anyways...I found LOTS of other software and started a ( now huge ) Collection of free sound card software...I know Oliver Welps site is not updated often , I might take the plunge and code something up for Software Sound Card Decoding.....do updates monthly type of thing....anyways thx for the reply I know much more now than I did 24 hrs ago :)

Thx

I know this thread is a bit dated but.... I know quite a bit about this subject.

The software needed is here: https://dedected.org/trac

DECT does include encryption, however in 98% of all cases the encryption either not used... or is used for only one side of the conversation.
In addition to that the Dect encryption is not very strong as is easily broken, in fact even GSM A5/1 has been cracked 100% at this time. (yes.. that is your cell phone) and I have personally confirmed this.

The hardware to intercept DECT as it stands today is quite expensive, only a USRP $1000+ or a modified driver for a DECT card made in germany (no longer in product, thus driving up the price) goes for around $500+ assuming you can even find one for sale... I hunted for months before buying my card.

However with things such as the RTL-SDR and the fact that dect is in the 1.9GHz range it is quite possible that some day we could use this device the only issue really being developing the software and finding the dongles that support that range (as some only do up to 1.7ghz)
