Hello;

Just wondering once I've received all the helpful answers possible, how does one delete a thread or close it?

Also, is there a way to not be followed?

Users cannot delete or lock threads. Moderators can lock threads, though we rarely delete threads (once it's on the Internet, there's no taking it back).

If you feel that a thread is heading off topic or if something has been posted in the thread that violates RadioReference forum rules, please use the "Report" link to alert the moderators.

You can go into your profile and adjust your privacy. You can keep people from being able to see your profile unless they're invited to. If they can't see your profile they can't follow you.

Also, if your profile is visible to other members they can see all of your postings.

To me there's a big difference between locking a thread or deleting a thread, only moderators can do both but all you have to do is press the report button and ask that a thread be locked or deleted. As been said, a locked but not deleted thread can be helpful to other members with interest in the same topic.

I just noticed how new you are poster. Some other tips that can be helpful to you. You can delete or edit a post, but you only have a 30 minute window to do so. After 30 minute that ability expires.

Another tip I found out the hard way. If you are in a private conversation and someone quotes a thread on the open unit for you to read and comment on in the private message make sure after you read the open Forum link that you back out of that link and respond to the private conversation thread only LOL. One time I replied to the private conversation but it was actually on the active open Forum thread that I made my less than complementary comments.

By the time I realized what I had done my ability to delete the post had expired. I was horrified and reported myself and the mod quickly deleted the post. Their message to me was "you owe me one" and I indeed did :)

It can't be done at the user level. Besides, why delete a thread when it could be beneficial to others who may have the same question as you?
Hmm Didn't figure that angle. I figured I was asking such °been there done that° basic questions there was more than enough already present, yet then again, that also makes your point.

Thanks!

LOL, I did the same thing (without any "less than complementary comments") and lucky for me the reply in the open forum somewhat matched up with what was discussed in pm, and time hadn't expired so I was able to edit it a bit and the mistake went unnoticed.:whistle:
